Hopping on the "Wellerman" bandwagon!

This song was a treat as well as a pain to work on. After asking three other people to work on this song with me and only hearing back from one of them regarding why they couldn't participate in what I wanted to be a collaboration among friends, I ended up with no choice but to do the simple thing and sing all four parts yet again. This time, I gave each vocal part its own unique tone and inflection to hopefully make the vocals sound fuller (p.s.: FL Studio really does not do well with the grungy pirate voice >.<)

With that little hurdle out of the way, my next issue seemed to be that my computer couldn't actually handle everything I had going on with this song. The tempo change really lags FL Studio like it's about to crash, and something about the main bass instrument that I made myself using Vital just has my memory constantly at 100. To make the video, I had to turn off the tempo change and the bass just to have it play relatively smoothly so that I could edit the video properly. I don't know why that issue happens; I was able to upgrade my RAM to 16GB but that didn't seem to fix it. Whenever I am next able to, I guess I'll try to upgrade my storage space and see if that fixes anything somehow.

That last pain, aside from not having any money -- because had I been certain I would be able to, I would have commissioned an artist to paint the picture for this song -- I made the regrettable decision to draw and color the accompanying album art for this song myself. I mean, in retrospect, it didn't come out too bad, I guess. I just wish I could have got it professionally done, then I know without a doubt it would look nice.

Other than that, please enjoy this song. I'm likely never going to try to jump on a trend before it goes out of style again because this whole process was a pain.

lyrics

There once was a ship that was put to sea
and the name of the ship was the "Billy o' Tea".
The winds blew hard, her bow dipped down
O' blow, me bully boys, blow!

Soon may the Wellerman come
to bring us sugar and tea and rum.
One day, when the tonguin' is done,
we'll take our leave and go.

She had not been two weeks from shore
When down on her, a right whale bore.
The captain called "All hands" and swore
He'd take that whale in tow.

Soon may the Wellerman come
to bring us sugar and tea and rum.
One day, when the tonguin' is done,
we'll take our leave and go.

Before the boat had hit the water,
the whale's tail came up and caught her.
All hands to the side; harpooned and fought her
when she dived down below.

Soon may the Wellerman come
to bring us sugar and tea and rum.
One day, when the tonguin' is done,
we'll take our leave and go.

No line was cut, no whale was freed,
and the captain's mind was not of greed
But he belonged to the Whaleman's creed;
she took that ship in tow

Soon may the Wellerman come
to bring us sugar and tea and rum.
One day, when the tonguin' is done,
we'll take our leave and go.

For forty days, or even more,
the line went slack then tight once more.
All boats were lost, there were only four
and still, that whale did go.

Soon may the Wellerman come
to bring us sugar and tea and rum.
One day, when the tonguin' is done,
we'll take our leave and go.

As far as I've heard, the fight's still on,
the line's not cut, and the whale's not gone.
The Wellerman makes its regular call
to encourage the captain, crew, and all.

Soon may the Wellerman come
to bring us sugar and tea and rum.
One day, when the tonguin' is done,
we'll take our leave and go.

Soon may the Wellerman come
to bring us sugar and tea and rum.
One day, when the tonguin' is done,
we'll take our leave and go.
