🐾 Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I'm going to try to keep this description short (not that anyone really reads these), but I feel there are some choices I made in this song that require some explanation. First and foremost: the bells at the beginning. I don't know where it was anymore or which version of this song I heard, but last year around this time (surprise, surprise), I heard a cover of this song on the radio that had this similar melodic line. It threw me off so hard because, as I'm sure you hear as well, it sounded off. But, sure enough, it ended up blending well with the instruments that entered later and made for a unique version of that song. Here, I tried doing it, but I can neither confirm nor deny if I am satisfied with how it turned out.
🐾 Secondly, it's about this song in general. Did you know this song and all of its verses were meant to be a satirical statement on the aggressive disposition of most people during the holidays? "Here's my holiday spirit, now reward me for being merry!" Essentially. In researching the full lyrics to this song to record it, I learned that and that gave me a new idea for how I wanted to take this song. Oh, yes, by the way, if you're reading this and you aren't sure if you should listen to the song all the way through, I do start singing near the end. The idea was to start off with the usual verse, lull you into a false sense of familiarity, then sike you out by switching to the rest of the lyrics, really emphasizing the aggression behind those verses. This also includes my first efficient use of distortion on vocals. I think I might have tried to use it in the past to mask my horrible voice, but this time it was added for effect!

We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
and a happy new year
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year
Now, bring us some figgy pudding
So, bring us some figgy pudding
Please, bring us some figgy pudding
And bring it out here
We won't go until we get some
We won't go until we get some
We won't go until we get some
So bring it right here
For we all love our figgy pudding
For we all love our figgy pudding
For we all love our figgy pudding
It's all in good cheer
Good tidings we bring to you and your kin
Good tidings for Christmas and a happy new year
Good tidings we bring to you and your kin
Good tidings for Christmas and a happy new year
Good tidings we bring to you and your kin
Good tidings for Christmas and a happy new year
Good tidings we bring to you and your kin
Good tidings for Christmas and a happy new year
